What other profession in the world allows me to have fun photographing cute little babies smashing cupcakes for their first birthday!? Jolie’s absolutely incredible cake smash session is straight out of a magazine, and her adorable little face showed just how much fun she had crushing that cupcake to bits!

I was so excited when Jonida approached me to do a cake smash for Jolie’s first birthday, and I think it’s clear why. While I absolutely adore newborn photography, it really is a blast to do birthday sessions with toddlers! In general, whenever I do a cake smash session, I provide the balloons, the cake stand, and the ambience. All you need is a cake! It’s such a fun experience for the kids and parents – and me, of course! And I love how energetic and excited they get when they see the decorations and sweet treat their parents brought for them. It’s the cutest!

Jolie was so fun and so happy, and we were able to get some really stunning photographs of her digging into that cupcake! She looked like a tiny model, and her adorable smile absolutely lit up the room. She was so happy to be in front of the camera (and surrounded by balloons!), so it was a breeze getting the perfect shot.

After the cake smash, I captured some incredibly sweet images of Jolie + her parents. I just love them! The way these three loved each other was awe-inspiring, and I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful family to photograph! I loved that each of them looked at each other with wide eyes and adoring smiles so naturally. I barely had to give them any direction, which made it easy to capture them in the most perfect light.
